Jamel ‘Mel’ Ramsay
Coach Ramsay

Jamel Ramsay is the founder and director of Cerebral Sports, an organization for applied sports psychology consulting. He holds a dual Master’s degree in sports psychology and sports administration from Lock Haven University. He is a former division-two college football player who also played professionally in the Arena Football League. Jamel is currently the head football coach at Nassau Community College; he has spent several years coaching high school football and basketball as well as middle school track. His sports background gives him the insight to relate to all athletes. He has a passion for working with kids while helping them become more confident in their athletic abilities. Jamel decided to earn his Master’s degree in sports psychology because he understood the need to help athletes build confidence while competing. Cerebral Sports’ goal is to help athletes play at the highest level with great focus and confidence. Connecting your mind and body to the game is his goal.

David Naupari

David Naupari, M.S., is a current Mental Performance Consultant. He received his master’s degree in Sport Science from Lock Haven University in 2022 and has since been working towards becoming a Certified Mental Performance Consultant. In this pursuit, David has piloted a mental performance program at a NCAA DIII college, working with coaches and athletes from a multitude of sports that include wrestling, basketball and softball. He currently works privately in the NYC/Long island area assisting athletes with enhancing their mental skills using research-based methods.

David has an athletic background in wrestling, competing throughout high school and college and later coaching at the collegiate level. He remains involved in grappling and currently trains Jiu-jitsu in NYC.

Jana Ponder

Jana Ponder is a certified athletic trainer and mental performance consultant. Her desire is to provide holistic care to athletes and performers to improve their well-being and physical performance. She graduated from Slippery Rock University with a Bachelor’s degree in athletic training. She has worked with a variety of sports and schools at the middle school level to the collegiate level. Jana has experience working with athletes in football, volleyball, soccer, wrestling,
swimming, bocce, track, and much more. Working as a physician extender with an orthopedic physician gave her experience and knowledge about a variety of sport injuries, including rehab and surgical management. As an athletic trainer, she learned that many of her athletes were not only dealing with physical injuries, but also struggling to perform at their best during stressful times at school and in their personal lives. Her desire has always been to help and treat the entire person. Jana obtained her Master’s degree in Exercise and Sport Psychology from Lock Haven University and now works to help athletes and performers achieve excellent performance through mental training skills, coping strategies, and injury diagnosis and treatment. In graduate school, Jana provided individual sport psychology consultation to the Maryland Black Bears Junior Ice Hockey team and group sessions to the students of the Washington School of Ballet. She looks forward to educating athletes of all specialties and age groups at Cerebral Sports. 
In her free time Jana enjoys yoga, going for walks and hikes, and reading. “Sport and performing arts participation comes with physical and mental highs and lows. As a sport psychology consultant my desire is to enhance performance and maintain peak performance in the midst of the highs and lows.”

Hailey Perez

Hailey Perez M.S, LAT, ATC, is a board-certified and licensed athletic trainer currently working as an assistant athletic trainer for Iona University. She received her bachelor’s degree in athletic training from Kean University in 2021 and a master’s degree in sports sciences from Lock Haven University in 2022. She is currently working towards her certification as a certified mental performance consultant. She has piloted the mental health division for Ultrafooty LLC and remains a mental skills coach with their developmental group. Hailey maintains a deep passion for advocating breaking the stigma of mental health in sports. By marrying the field of sports medicine and sports psychology, the goal is to help our athletes develop and use cognitive, life, and self-regulatory skills to enhance performance, enjoyment, and personal development in sports or other domains.
Topics she tackles include but are not limited to goal setting, focus, concentration, dealing with pre-competition anxiety, mindfulness, relaxation, etc.
Her sports background comes from playing soccer and lacrosse until college. She still plays for fun when she can but has found a new love for snowboarding, running, and weight lifting to remain active.
